“Natalie is a self-published author of 8 books, both fiction and non-fiction. She is passionate about helping people follow their writing dreams and more generally in helping people become their best self through gentle improvement techniques. She believes that life already comes with enough challenges; we need to learn how to be our own best friend and cheerleader instead of our biggest critic.”

I have been a storyteller since I was old enough to put on sock puppet shows in my living room. After I graduated college, I knew that writing was my calling, but it took many more years to fully realize that writing is also my purpose in life.

After much research into the publishing industry, I decided to self-publish my first book in 2012. The industry has changed a lot since then and is now more ripe than ever for those who want to bring their book to fruition. I’ve learned a lot in my journey and love to encourage and help other authors find their path forward. That’s why I started The Indie Authors, a resource for self-published authors to start gaining SEO traction and visibility, as well as giving them access to workbooks that guide them through the process from idea to final product.

When I’m not writing, I’m reading, watching sports (I originally went to college to be a sports journalist and spent several years as the Los Angeles Lakers and Oakland Raiders columnist for Bleacher Report), or making art for my snail mail club. I have a core belief that the world is a better, more beautiful place with more stories and art in it.

I was first published as a poet when I was 14 years old — proof that the creative journey can begin at any age, and that it never really has to stop.
